Starfyn Education are looking for a passionate and dedicated SEN Learning Support Assistant for our client in Camberwell, Ofsted rated “Good”. They are a school that focuses on individuals with SEMH, Mental Health needs, attachment difficulties, and additional complex needs including but not limited to; ASD, ADHD, Aspergers, Language & Communication difficulties, and Adverse childhood experiences.
These students have previously either been in mainstream schools and it has not been successful, or they have been out of education for a long time. The school's key aim is to understand and address the issues each individual faces and make sure they leave the school with the personal and educational knowledge required to be successful in their next phase of life.
The Role: SEND Learning Support Assistant
Days Required: Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 4pm (Fulltime)
Pay: £85 - £95 per day
Location: Camberwell
Type: Agency (Either Temporary to Permanent or Ongoing Contract)
The school's students are at varying levels of ability so are provided with extra support, whether that is 1:1 or in a class setting, working with Key Stage 3 and 4, with most students having an EHCP (Educational Health Care Plan).
We are looking for a passionate and flexible individual to join their team. The candidate should be able to communicate effectively with the children and other staff members whilst being able to provide instruction clearly to others. A successful candidate will have a flexible and adaptable approach to work and be reliable.
What we're looking for:
1. Experience working closely with children and young people.
2. SEN experience - This can be through professional or family environments.
3. Good education certification levels in English and Maths.
4. A confident and independent individual.
5. Flexibility with different working patterns.
6. Willingness to learn and make a difference within the SEN community.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Work closely with the teachers and offer support for SEN individuals.
2. Create learning plans for lessons and plan according to different pupils' needs.
3. Provide 1-on-1 small support groups when needed.
4. Promote positive values, attitudes and good pupil behaviour in line with the school's policy.
5. Always follow the safeguarding policies.
6. Actively participate in team meetings.
7. Support individual needs when required, including assisting with a wide range of medical and often personal care tasks which may include feeding, changing, and manual handling (training will be provided by the school).
