An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the People Experience team in the People Directorate at the NHS SY ICB. The purpose of the People Experience team is to support the ICB and all health and care organisations in South Yorkshire to improve the experience of their people/workforce to enable them to deliver excellent health and care services to the population.
The post holder has a key role in the delivery of projects/programmes across the organisations business areas, ensuring that the agreed project outputs are delivered in line with deadlines.
Main duties of the job
1. Provide additional support to the wider project management team through working flexibly to directly assist other projects where they may be a subject matter expert or through research and development and delivery of materials as required.
2. Provide expertise of best practice change and project management methodologies.
3. Communicate, engage and build relationships with key strategic policy makers to influence the development of strategy and policies.
4. Engage and manage relationships with stakeholders to achieve a common purpose and realise mutual benefits where there may be contentious decisions to be made around performance or finance etc.
5. Produce material for and present complex presentations to large groups which are engaging, influential and effective in delivering key messages, the content of which may include highly complex technical, contentious or very sensitive information.
6. Forge close working relationships across the organisation to facilitate an effective matrix style approach to delivery of projects and programmes of work.
7. Identify options by utilising specialist knowledge using agreed criteria and initiative to test solutions in advance.
8. Contribute to the development of key performance indicators and milestones for specific projects.
9. Interrogate and analyse, sometimes highly complex, information to support the delivery of clear project reporting and project outcomes.

Job responsibilities
1. Write and submit regular project reports for the programme board showing progress against milestones, status, resource requirements, issues, risks and dependencies, making recommendations where a range of options may exist.
2. Manage the set-up and delivery of projects, working with colleagues and subject matter experts on the strategic planning, scoping, design and the delivery.
3. Deliver significant projects for NHS England and NHS Improvement which are complex in nature and that supports system transformation and delivers corporate transformation across the new operating model.
4. Manage the whole lifecycle of a project, reporting on progress and managing risks and issues, escalating where necessary to the project board.
5. Support organisational change and the uptake of initiatives that support excellence.
6. Ensure benefits are identified, understood, measured, tracked and owned.
7. Demonstrate flexibility and support new programmes and projects where necessary.
8. Work with NHS England Regional and National colleagues to deliver the ambitions set out in the NHS EDI Improvement Plan, NHS Equality, Delivery System 2022 and the NHS People Plan and People Promise.
9. Implement the agreed EDI strategic priorities in South Yorkshire in conjunction with Programme Director for People experience, ICB Executive lead for EDI and all EDI leads in South Yorkshire.
10. Actively support the South Yorkshire EDI Leads group to work effectively as a distributed leadership team to ensure positive impact from delivery of the EDI priorities and support the delivery of agreed system wide activity.
11. Take a lead role in organising the South Yorkshire Women’s Network, in conjunction with other system leads, and any other system wide staff network activity.
12. Ensure that the ICS Chief Executive Senior Responsible Officer is kept well informed of progress against the agreed workplan, escalating as appropriate.
13. Effectively work with the Programme Director for People experience, ICB Executive lead for EDI and system SRO to deliver the ICS EDI priorities.
14. Take a lead role in organising and supporting key groups and committees to ensure that EDIB actions and impact are being measured and reported effectively.
15. As the EDIB lead also for the ICB ensure the objectives for the organisation are set out clearly and implemented, drawing on the resources across the ICB to support this work and demonstrate meeting its Public Sector Equality Duty, EDI Improvement actions and EDS 2022.
16. Work as part of the wider People Function to support all activities in relation to the ICB and ICS workforce in respect of EDIB.
17. Lead by example to disrupt and challenge the status quo to effect systematic change, using the data and evidence to prioritise and identify systems and processes that are discriminatory.
18. Take a cultural development and improvement approach to helping colleagues develop awareness, to be able to examine their own behaviour and actions with a view to creating the cultural shifts needed to achieve our EDIB ambitions.
19. Examine the element of belonging and seek out ways in which this can be supported at system and ICB level.
20. Develop ICB EDI policies and support staff networks.
21. Promote key EDI themes across the ICS by linking with communication teams including the ICB and ensure EDI website is regularly updated.
22. Work with all members of the people experience team to work jointly on initiatives promoting inclusivity and to contribute to the overall ambition to improve people’s experiences in our workplaces.
23. Promote a culture of openness and transparency, including wide engagement and collaboration across system partners.
24. Represent and promote the interests of South Yorkshire ICS at local, regional, and national level.
25. Promote South Yorkshire ICS objectives, remit, actions, and achievements to key stakeholders and the wider public, acting as the partnership’s ambassador in relation to the EDIB agenda.
26. Lead with humility, acknowledging learning and seeking to understand and increase own awareness and cultural competency.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Educated to Masters level in a relevant area of academic practice or equivalent experience working at a commensurate band / level.
* To have one or more of the below project management qualifications or equivalent level of experience:
o Managing Successful Programmes Advanced Practitioner
o APM Registered Project Professional.
