The role of Business Development Manager (BDM) is to lead and develop sales growth in line with the business objectives and growth strategy by securing new custom and nurturing existing clients.
The BDM will conduct analysis of market opportunities and align the company approach, therefore demonstrating a clear understanding of the business will be key in order to focus on developing sales and strategies, which will ensure the company are successful both in the UK and overseas.
The role will involve maintaining and developing large and established contracts, promoting products and services, as well as identifying any new opportunities.
This position will report directly to company Directors in Aberdeen and will involve travel within the UK and overseas. A valid UK driving licence is essential.

Trident IES (formerly known as IES Callenberg Ltd.) was established in 1984 and has successfully been delivering our Scope of Service to the Oil & Gas industry since then. With over 40 years' experience in the provision of HVAC, refrigeration, and modular door repair, maintenance and engineering services, we are presently the largest provider of these services in the North Sea. Our client portfolio includes major energy operators and integrated service companies.
We employ over 100 staff and have a full complement of highly experienced HVAC Consultants, Contract and Project Managers, Design/Project Engineers, maintenance support specialists, offshore technicians, and back-office support staff.
Although we primarily specialise in the oil & gas industry, we have also grown our contracts in the renewable energy sector, servicing many on and offshore sub-stations across various windfarms.
About the role
Trident IES is looking to bring on an energetic, creative, driven and competitive Business Development Manager to join our Aberdeen based team.
Reporting to the company Directors, your day-to-day responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
* Identifying new business opportunities, including identifying new markets, new clients, new partnerships and/or new products and services.
* Prepares and implements key client and market pursuit plans
* Staying abreast of developments and economic conditions in the Energy industry and be able to react and plan accordingly
* Actively seek to establish a strong understanding of the company’s products and services, the competition in the industry, and our positioning
* Assisting in developing and implementing effective strategies to successfully reach new business opportunities, and building and implementing action plans in support of the business strategy
* Building and maintaining strong relationships with existing and prospective clients, gauging their needs and developing proposals to address these needs
* Pitching sales and products to new and existing clients
* Developing and maintaining a strong sales pipeline, by prospecting potential new customers, working with active customers and new business wins
* Creating new business through cold calls, attending conferences and network events (at home or overseas) to build relationships with industry partners and stay up to date with new trends
* Planning approaches and pitches for new business through positive engagement with the Trident IES teams and with the broader Trident Group: connecting and collaborating with experienced team members
* Playing a key role in promoting the business via social media posts, and generally boosting our online presence
* Supporting the coordination and composing of tender proposals, including technical and commercial responses
* Being comfortable communicating with and reporting to company directors on strategy, progress, completing reporting requirements, and updating customer details in the CRM system.
Who we are looking for
* Previous work experience in a BDM role achieving/exceeding sales targets
* A strong and experienced candidate with in-depth knowledge of the oil and gas or wider energy sector: background and knowledge of HVAC and refrigeration equipment, maintenance, and/or projects would be advantageous
* Proven experience in client facing roles in sales, using PowerPoint to present to clients and able to showcase clear and strong negotiation skills
* An individual with strong business acumen who can think and influence strategically, communicating at the highest level with internal and external stakeholders
* Aptitude for tender process management and customer relationship management
* Ideally educated to degree level or level 9 of the SCQF framework, in business or marketing
* A good communicator, excellent written, oral, and listening skills.
* Highly focused and self-motivated with the ability to work under pressure, prioritise tasks, and work efficiently and accurately with a clear focus on business growth
* Flexibility to travel regularly and at short notice
* Full driving licence as required for frequent travel.
