Are you a strategic thinker looking to shape the future of rail operations? We are looking for a Strategic Planning and Engineering Access Manager to add to our Train Planning team.
In this role you will lead negotiations with Network Rail on the TriLink Intelligent Renewals programme, collaborate with various teams to manage access efficiently, and develop strategies to deliver outputs and considering the overall system's financial impact. Perfection is not required, not all the criteria is essential so we welcome your application.
Key Accountabilities:
* Lead Negotiations: Negotiate with Network Rail on Engineering Access strategy and arrangements for Avanti West Coast services, stations, and depots, and develop diversionary route strategies considering operational capabilities and constraints.
* Collaborate: Liaise with Major Works Planning Manager and Timetable Production Manager for strategic views on Network Rail Capacity Studies, and develop joint solutions with WCML operators and other train operators for service provision.
* Support and Respond: Support Engineering Access Planning Manager in formulating responses to Network Rail documents, and collaborate with Network Rail Route EAP/System Operator teams and other Operators.
* Optimise Capacity: Write remits for capacity studies and support NR with their production to optimise capacity allocation, aiming to provide the best passenger service around blockades and reduce rail replacement needs.
* Plan and Review Operations: Lead development of road and rail operations for passenger handling plans, communicate developments to relevant teams, produce demand modelling for blockades, review effectiveness of plans, and deputise for Engineering Access Planning Manager as required.
You’ll ideally be experienced in:
* Operations: In-depth knowledge of routes, methods of working, and network interactions, including understanding the operational intricacies and challenges.
* Engineering Access Processes: Comprehensive understanding of Network Rail's engineering access processes as covered by the Network Code.
* Infrastructure Engineering Work: Familiarity with various delivery methods and access needs for infrastructure engineering work specific to the West Coast Main Line.
* Objectives: Insight into the objectives of Train Operating Companies (TOCs), including costings, demand forecasting, passenger handling strategies, and the development of capacity studies to meet passenger needs.
