Candidate required: Construction Manager \nJob Type: Permanent \nStart date: ASAP \nIndustry: Construction Professionals South \nLocation: Berkshire The role & about the client:\n We are recruiting on behalf of a Tier 1 contractor for an experienced Construction Manager to join a high-profile defence project. This is a rare and exciting opportunity to play a key leadership role in one of the most significant and complex construction projects in the sector. As a Construction Manager, you will be responsible for driving the successful delivery of the project, ensuring it is completed on time, within budget, and to the highest safety and quality standards.
You will lead a multidisciplinary team, working closely with stakeholders to manage the day-to-day site operations and overcome technical challenges.\n\nKey responsibilities include, but are not limited to:\n \nOversee and manage the construction phase of a large-scale defence project. \nDevelop and implement detailed construction plans, schedules, and resource allocation strategies. \nLead site teams, including subcontractors and direct labour, to ensure efficient and safe delivery.
\nEnsure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards. \nMonitor project progress, identify potential risks, and implement effective mitigation strategies. \nManage budgets and costs, ensuring financial performance targets are met.
\nBuild and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and project partners. \nDrive a culture of excellence and continuous improvement across the site. The ideal candidate\n \nProven experience as a Construction Manager on complex, high-value projects (preferably within defence, infrastructure, or similar secure environments).
\nStrong understanding of construction methodologies, contracts (e.g., NEC), and project controls. \nExcellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and direct teams. \nDemonstrated ability to manage budgets, schedules, and risk effectively.
