Experis are working alongside a government client seeking a Safety Manager within the Engineering team.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist with the implementation of the Safety Management System across the business.
* Develop Safety Cases and safety assessments, conducting internal audits of safety artefacts.
* Ensure all changes to products, systems, and services (PSS) have undergone due safety process and governance .
* Support the ongoing development and review of safety performance, ensuring effective safety measures at various levels.
* Lead post-incident investigations and analysis, implementing corrective actions.
* Review and enhance safety policies and processes, ensuring key stakeholders understand their safety obligations.
* Act as a focal point for safety management, engaging with internal and external stakeholders.
* Contribute to Safety Boards and Safety Management Review Panels, ensuring compliance with safety targets and criteria.
* Stay up to date with safety legislation, regulations, and best practices.
Key Skills & Experience Required:
* Formal qualifications in Safety Management .
* Experience in developing Safety Cases using Goal Structuring Notation (GSN) or Claim, Argument, Evidence (CAE) methodology in line with Defence Standard 00-056 .
* Proven experience in hazard log management within a business, military, or production environment.
* Hands-on experience with Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to investigate incidents.
* Experience leading Safety Panels or Committees .
* Strong stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to communicate across all levels, from subject matter experts to senior management .
* A proactive approach to safety culture development and continuous improvement .
Desirable
* Working knowledge of Def Stan 00-056 highly desirable
* Experience of embedding Safety Management Systems within the Defence or Maritime Industries
