We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our ambitious Academy team as a Learning & Development Consultant, where you’ll play a vital role in helping us grow our talent and ensure that we have a competent workforce!

We’re on the lookout for someone to play a pivotal role in developing engineering skills capability across Severn Trent. You’ll contribute to the implementation and sustainability of the learning and development strategy within the Academy. Collaborating with our Capital Design, Delivery, Asset Maintenance, and Intelligence teams, you'll ensure our workforce has the skills and knowledge to excel. Key responsibilities include:
1. Identifying learning needs
2. Designing and delivering training programs
3. Assessing skill gaps
4. Evaluating training effectiveness
5. Ensuring compliance
6. Fostering a culture of continuous learning
To succeed in this role, you will need to be an effective communicator, with the ability to develop and manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders, bodies, and suppliers. Developing and maintaining credibility, expertise, and current knowledge will be essential, so you must be comfortable with networking both internally and externally. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to work in a project-based environment, with a passion for development and involvement with the new Academy.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THE ROLE
We are looking for someone with experience in designing and managing development programmes in complex, multi-site environments. You’ll have strong project management skills, excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, and the capacity to influence stakeholders at all levels. Experience in data analysis, writing clear communications, and evaluating learning interventions is essential. An understanding of learning trends and emerging skills in the engineering sector is also important, along with the ability to adapt to a changing world and anticipate future needs.
The role will be based at Severn Trent Centre in Coventry, with an expectation to also work at our Academy building in Finham and travel to our regional sites as required, meaning a driving licence is necessary for this position.
