Here at Yunex Traffic we want to make mobility safer, more efficient, and more sustainable with forward-looking infrastructure and transport solutions. Yunex Traffic designs, markets, manufactures, installs, and maintains a wide portfolio of international traffic management products and is the UK market leader in the traffic signal business. This includes intersection and pedestrian traffic controllers, intelligent urban traffic control systems, variable message signs, public transport, and car park guidance systems to enhance road safety and improve traffic flow in congested urban and inter-urban areas.
The challenge
Part of being a #TrafficTransformer apprentice at Yunex Traffic means you get to work on real life projects whilst also being supported on a guided learning journey, and often experiencing different areas within the business.
Our apprentices get the opportunity to find their passion and in turn, we get to experience their drive and zest for new ideas and initiatives. We are always looking for apprentices who want to make a difference to the world we live in.
This will be a Degree Apprenticeship, over a 4 year period.
The candidate
Role Specific Requirements
1. Align with our Yunex Traffic values, including Zero Harm, Innovation, Customer Focus, and Ownership.
2. Be willing to travel to multiple of our Yunex Traffic sites across the UK for training.
3. Desire to contribute in a challenging and diverse environment
4. Willing to continuously research, learn and be creative
5. The ability to learn and adapt, recognise changing trends, and tackle the unexpected with enthusiasm
Essential Skills
6. Enjoy collaborating with others to find innovative solutions.
7. Have a willingness to self-learn, research and take a creative approach to problem solving.
8. Possess good organisational and time management skills to assist in completing the academic qualifications and occupational skills developments within this apprenticeship.
9. Take ownership of challenges and ideas
10. Be forward thinking and inquisitive.
11. Whilst not essential, it would be a bonus if you already have experience with: Java, Databases, Cloud Technologies, and Kubernetes
Basic Skills
12. Have good communication skills, both written and verbal.
13. Demonstrate effective listening and teamwork skills, to create a collaborative work environment and strengthen relationships.
14. Be IT literate; able to use Microsoft Office packages, including Word, Excel and Outlook.

As a member of one of the Agile software or embedded software development teams you will:
19. Work with a product owner to understand and influence requirements.
20. Take part in collaborative planning and estimating of product features.
21. Design and document your software artefacts using industry leading tools and processes.
22. Create effective and secure software solutions using contemporary software development languages.
23. Perform code reviews, debugging and refactoring to improve code quality and efficiency.
24. Demonstrate new functionality.
25. Learn to use automated testing tools to ensure quality standards are met.
Additionally, if you take the engineering management track, you will learn to:
26. Manage requirements, costs, resource utilisation and variations.
27. Manage a positive relationship with stakeholders through outstanding communication
28. Ensure all employees work safely and their workplace needs are understood and managed.
29. Promote a culture of innovation, autonomy and mastery to deliver strategic aim and vision.
The location of this apprenticeship role will be Poole, Dorset .

Minimum Educational Requirements
35. 4 GCSEs at 4 or above, including Maths and English (or Functional Skills/ Apprenticeship equivalent)
36. 3 A-Levels, including Maths, at grade C or above, or BTEC equivalent
37. Desirable; a keen interest in Engineering

Recruitment Process
Applications for our apprenticeships will close on 21st February 2025.
Following your application, if you are successful, we will invite you an interview via MS Teams, with a second stage in-person interview at our depot in Poole if successful. This is a chance to meet with the hiring team and discuss the role further. Our interviews will be competency (skills) based and are a chance for us to find out what your motivations are for your future career.
Interviews will take place between January – March 2025.
Our apprentices will join the business on 26th August 2025 so you must be available from this date.
