We currently have an opportunity for a 12-month fixed term post in the clinical area of Hyper-Acute and Acute Stroke services. This post will include weekend 7-day working. You will have the opportunity to work with Senior colleagues and work within a multi-disciplinary team. At the QEHB you will have the opportunity to work with patients following specialist interventions such as mechanical thrombectomy. We offer support with specialist areas including postural management, wheelchairs and splinting. You will be expected to supervise and support junior OT staff and provide daily leadership to your clinical team. You will the opportunity to be involved in service development and national audit whilst working with a team focussed on delivering holistic, high quality care. You will have access to regular supervision as well as a therapy wide Band 6 development programme. This post comes with the support of specialist teams and Senior colleagues. This is extended by our School of Nursing, AHPs and Midwifery. Main duties of the job Within this role you will be treating patient in the hyper-acute and acute phase following a Stroke. You will assess, treat and facilitate discharge for the patients under care. In order to maintain the service requirements, you will be able to prioritise your caseload and work with the wider team, delegating tasks where appropriate. You will be able to perform appropriate functional and cognitive assessments, and have an awareness of the discharge process. You will have excellent communication skills, as well as organisational and time management skills. You will require a flexible approach and the ability to work autonomously. You will have excellent prioritisation skills and demonstrate client centred practice. You should provide evidence of relevant courses and training as well as commitment to ongoing CPD. You should have relevant clinical experience within Stroke, and you will need to have experience of working within the acute NHS setting as well as working within a multi-disciplinary team. If applicants have been involved in the preceptorship programme, we would expect this to have been completed. The successful candidate will be required to supervise staff and complete annual appraisals of staff as well as support undergraduate students within their clinical placements.
