We have an exciting opportunity for a conscientious and enthusiastic Decorator to join our dynamic team. This permanent position is well suited to an individual that is looking to advance their career and gain hands-on experience in a thriving and supportive workplace.

SUMMARY OF ROLE
Mountjoy Ltd is contracted to the Isle of Wight Council, Vectis Housing Association, RNLI and other clients to provide the day-to-day repairs, quoted works and planned preventative maintenance to various buildings across the Isle of Wight.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
18. Apply paint to surfaces including walls, floors, doors, and cabinets.
19. Mix, match, and apply paint, varnish, enamel, and other finishes.
20. Scrape, sandpaper, prime, or seal surfaces prior to painting.
21. Clean walls to ensure proper adherence.
22. Consider the Client/ Tenant and cover surfaces with cloth or plastic to ensure protection.
23. Calculate amounts of required materials, select & purchase from approved suppliers to minimise wastage.
24. Fill cracks, holes, and joints with caulk, putty, plaster, or other fillers, using caulking guns or putty knives.
25. Remove fixtures such as pictures, doorknobs, lamps, and switch covers prior to painting.
26. Tape off & barrier areas when needed.
27. Apply touch-ups and second coats. Clean away any paint splatters when finished.
28. Clean up all equipment, including brushes and spray guns, and leave the area clean & tidy when complete.
29. Work on ladders or towers to reach high ceilings or walls.
30. Able to use the phone to communicate effectively, explaining yourself clearly and concisely understanding the information you need or need to provide.
31. Be comfortable in dealing with tenants and remain professional even when issues are contentious, especially when explaining to tenants that the right repair isn’t necessarily the repair they want.
32. Be a team player ensuring lessons learnt, and good practices are shared amongst the team for future benefit of the service.
33. Have a practical approach to health and safety, ensuring that you and others are safe at all times.
34. Be able to understand Mountjoy’s processes and actively engage in our culture.
QUALIFICATION REQUIRED
35. A trade specific qualification minimum NVQ Level 2 or equivalent.
36. Full current driving license.
37. A DBS check is required before commencement of role.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
38. Over 5+ years trade experience.
39. A full clean driving licence.
40. Being competent within your sphere of expertise.
41. Plastering experience would be advantageous but not essential.
42. Be competent in a secondary skill (Desirable)
