Streets Corner surgery is currently looking for a Medical Receptionist. The Ideal candidate must be hardworking, enthusiastic and committed individual with excellent communication & interpersonal skills to join our friendly yet busy team.
The role includes answering phones, assisting & directing patients, manning front desk and any other administrative tasks as and when required.
The position will be 21 hours per week on a Monday 7.45-6.30, Wednesday and Friday 1pm-18:30pm. The Ideal candidate must be flexible to cover Annual Leave and Sickness at short notice.
The successful candidate will ideally have previous experience of working in general practice or the NHS, and experience of dealing with the public both face to face and on the telephone, though anyone with strong customer service skills gained in any environment will be considered and Full training will be provided.
Main duties of the job
1. To answer the telephone promptly and deal with enquiries in a helpful and courteous manner, being aware of the need to maintain confidentiality at all times.
2. To cover the front reception desk to deal with patient's face to face.
3. Booking, cancelling, amending patient's appointments using EMIS.
4. To maintain a good rapport/relationship between internal and external staff of the Practice at all times.
5. To have an overview of the demands and workflow of the Practice during the working day.
6. Ensure the waiting area/reception front desk is kept tidy and keep forms and patient information stocked up where possible.
7. Effectively signpost patients to services appropriate to their needs. Liaise with Clinicians for patient queries.
8. Being flexible is important to us as we require staff to cover other team members through working paid overtime to cover annual and sickness.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Good standard of literacy and numeracy.
* Flexible to cover Annual Leave and Sickness at short notice.
* The ability to exercise judgement when dealing with patient enquiries/problems.
* Knowledge of EMIS web clinical system or another similar clinical system.
* The ability to manage own workload and act independently.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Sensitivity and empathy with people from different backgrounds.
* Ability to work without close supervision.
* The ability to work to a professional standard.
Experience
* Previous Receptionist / Administration experience in a similar setting and ideally General Practice.
* Knowledge of EMIS web clinical or another similar clinical system.
