About the school: This Ofsted-rated ‘GOOD’ school is set in a beautiful, eco-friendly environment near the New Forest and Dorset coastline, offering a therapeutic and enriching learning space for students with special educational needs. The school specialises in autism, communication difficulties, and complex learning disabilities, catering to students aged 5 to 16 with a range of learning needs, including Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD), and Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD). Their approach fosters a nurturing and inclusive community, where each child is valued and encouraged to thrive both academically and personally. The school operates from 8:45 am to 4:45 pm, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break. Your Role: As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will: Provide personalised support tailored to each student's learning style and needs. Promote emotional and social well-being, ensuring a safe and encouraging environment. Assist teachers in creating inclusive learning experiences, tracking progress, and building students' confidence. Develop engaging learning strategies under the guidance of the teacher. Maintain accurate records of incidents, accidents, and safeguarding concerns. Collaborate with specialists, such as speech and language therapists, to support student development. What We’re Looking For: Experience supporting children or adults with special educational needs. While not essential, a willingness to assist with personal care when required would be beneficial. A minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) Adaptability and a willingness to support varied learning styles. A patient, caring, and empathetic approach. Strong communication and listening skills. The ability to remain calm under pressure, ensuring students feel supported.
