Job Title: Welfare Services Assistant - Meals
Salary: £14,161.59 per annum
Location: St Helens: The Enterprise Centre, Salisbury Street.
Job Type: Permanent, Part-time; 25 hours per week
From our base in St Helens, we support over 6,000 individuals, focusing on supporting retired Pilkington employees and their families across the UK and beyond.
We deliver a range of social prescribing activities which provide practical and emotional support, promote health and well-being, and tackle social isolation.
We offer specialist services including personalised respite care for beneficiaries and members of the community who are over 60 in our purpose-built respite facility, Ruskin Lodge, in St Helens. We also deliver dementia support through our Admiral Nurse programme.
About the role
To deliver up to 40 hot meals each day within a set time period to beneficiaries within the St Helens Borough who have been assessed as requiring the Home Meals Service.
Key Responsibilities:
1. To collect meals from Ruskin Lodge and load them into meals delivery vehicles.
2. To be aware of the dietary restrictions of beneficiaries and ensure only suitable meals are delivered (e.g., gluten-free, diabetic).
3. To plan the best route for delivery in the most efficient and effective way.
4. To ensure all meals delivered are within safe temperature guidelines.
5. To drive in varying weather conditions.
6. To be alert to any changes in a beneficiary's circumstances (e.g., health or environment) when making daily deliveries and act on and report to Head Office or family members as appropriate.
7. To contact emergency services and family in the event of an emergency situation.
8. To engage with beneficiaries in a friendly and courteous manner.
9. To report any concerns regarding the company vehicle to Head Office.
10. To ensure vehicles have fuel for each meals run.
11. To maintain and ensure cleanliness of the interior of the vehicle.
Requirements
1. Full Current Clean Driving Licence
2. Ability to cope with stressful or emotional situations and occasional emergencies.
3. Ideal candidates will have a Level 2 Hygiene qualification, Level 2 Moving and Handling of People Qualification, and/or Level 3 First Aid Qualification.
4. Good standard of literacy and English.
5. Reliable and punctual.
