About the role:
Providing opportunities for Waltham Forest residents to be physically active is very important to the Council in helping to address inequalities across the borough by supporting people to become active and improve their health and wellbeing. A key way of achieving this is ensuring fair access to high quality sports and leisure facilities for the long term. We provide an excellent range of facilities across the borough that play a vital role in sustaining the high levels of participation in Waltham Forest as well as providing new opportunities for people who are inactive.
We are seeking a full-time Sport and Leisure Manager to oversee the operational management of the Council's community sport & leisure facilities including 13 sports grounds and two community leisure facilities. To also develop, lead and manage community sport and physical activity projects and programmes that help to address inactivity and inequality by providing local opportunities for residents of Waltham Forest to lead active and healthy lifestyles.
The role includes the management of the duty officer team and the management and oversight of the maintenance plan for the portfolio of facilities. The role also requires the ability to innovate via the development and implementation of strategy to help our residents become more physically active, including the ability to engage with a range of community stakeholders.
