We are currently seeking a highly motivated and dedicated PMLD/SLD Learning Support to join our team Special school in Rotherham. This school is mainly focused on providing education for students with complex physical and medical needs who may have severe and profound learning difficulties (SLD/PMLD).
Key Responsibilities
1. Providing learning support to students with SLD/PMLD
2. Assisting with the planning and delivery of individual education plans
3. Supporting students with daily living skills, including personal care and feeding
4. Helping to create a safe and stimulating learning environment
5. Monitoring and recording student progress
6. Working in partnership with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to provide a holistic approach to student learning
Essential Requirements
7. Experience working with students with SLD/PMLD
8. An understanding of the complexities of physical and medical needs
9. The ability to provide personal care and support with feeding
10. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
11. A creative and flexible approach to learning support
12. A positive and caring attitude towards students, colleagues, and families
13. A willingness to work as part of a team and contribute to the wider school community
14. A commitment to the safeguarding and welfare of all students
Desirable Skills and Experience
15. Experience working in a special school setting
16. Relevant qualifications in learning support or special education
17. Knowledge of PECS, Makaton, or other communication systems
18. Experience working with assistive technology and specialist equipment
