The Quality Engineer is responsible for the Air Liquide Tunstall Quality System, including quality management and quality assurance for the Tunstall Speciality Gases facility. The job is to establish, implement and maintain quality management systems to measure and control quality in an operational process. Provide quality assurance support, ensuring that the operations continue in accordance with quality requirements while maintaining efficiency. Provides statistical information for quality improvement by identifying and conducting testing methods and sampling. Identify and take steps to eliminate the causes of quality issues and reduce the risk of failure.
* Set performance standards for the Air Liquide Tunstall QMS & prepare semi-annual management review presentations related to the QMS.
* Maintain ISO 9001 and ISO 17025 registrations for Air Liquide Tunstall; expand Air Liquide Tunstall ISO 17025 scope and introduce ISO 17034 based on business requirements.
* Develop performance measurements and reporting requirements that set quality metrics for each stage of the production process.
* Proactively review and improve systems and processes to ensure maintenance of standards, reduction of defects, and improved efficiency. Lead the implementation of new quality programs.
* Determine quality improvement parameters by identifying statistical methods relevant to business processes. Conduct statistical analysis of data and create reports for management by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data; make recommendations.
* Create detailed, comprehensive and well-structured test plans and reports.
* Create quality documentation and develop SOPs for the facility and products in line with industry standards.
* Work closely with manufacturing staff to raise awareness of the importance of quality; train on and ensure quality protocols are followed and documentation is correctly maintained; provide tools to control quality on the production line; and implement any new changes or adaptations based on quality review.
* Work with customer services, lead and actively manage the Customer Complaints process.
* Manage investigations into quality issues (e.g. 5 Whys, 8D, Root Cause Analysis) with expected feedback to customers in 3-5 days.
* Work closely with the Laboratory to ensure that the quality of products is within aligned specifications.
* Participate with the Production Team to help make necessary improvements and changes to all process-related issues in the production department.
* Comply with safety policies and procedures. Safety is a condition of continued employment.
* Analyze reported problems, identify root causes, and develop corrective actions and improvements to overcome them. Work closely with external partners e.g. suppliers, customers, etc. to solve problems and implement solutions and improvements.
Are you a MATCH?
* Bachelor’s degree (B.S. or equivalent from three-year college or university) in Chemistry (or relevant work experience).
* Experience in a scientific or engineering discipline.
* Experience in an ISO 9001 environment.
* QE (Certified Quality Engineer) certification or equivalent highly desired.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Apps or similar software.
* Strong knowledge of statistical techniques and software.
* Strong knowledge of QA methodologies, tools, and processes.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to produce clear, concise communications.
* Sound mathematical and technical skills.
* Good investigative and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
* Good interpersonal and organizational skills.
* Decision-making ability coupled with the ability to work independently and proactively.
* Analytical skills – need to be able to spot problems quickly and find the underlying causes so changes can be made.
