The Battle Day Unit (BDU) has an exciting full-time opportunity for a dynamic and motivated individual to join our team working to improve the safety, experience, and outcomes for infusion and blood transfusion patients in Royal Berkshire Hospital. This post offers the opportunity to have a real impact on the independence and confidence in patients treated in Royal Berkshire Hospital. A passion for admission avoidance is a must for this position.
The Battle Day Unit works closely with various specialties like Rheumatology, Gastroenterology (IBD), Neurology, Oncology, Hematology, Endocrine, and Renal teams providing a varied work experience for the successful candidate.
Main Duties of the Job
The post holder is an experienced nurse who, acting within his/her professional boundaries, provides care for the presenting patient, from initial history taking, clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation of care. He/she is able to work autonomously but within Trust and Nursing and Midwifery Council policies, protocols, and guidelines, demonstrating safe clinical decision-making, high levels of critical thinking, and holistic practice. The post holder works with lead clinicians and care group managers to set and deliver the strategic vision of the service and to provide specialist education and training for staff, students, and patients. To support the Ward Manager in her absence and to provide strong leadership and effective consultancy for the Battle Day Unit nursing and the wider multi-disciplinary team.

* Evidence of recent clinical practice in specialist area/evidence of recent appropriate experience
