EMERGENCY HOUSING TEAM LEADER

Scale S01 (£32,076 - £33,945 per annum)
We are seeking an inspirational Team Leader who shares our passion, enthusiasm and commitment to supporting a team of Emergency Housing Officers to ensure the effective operation of all our emergency accommodation in Blackpool.
Our hostels provide emergency accommodation, specifically for families with support needs and also individuals requiring support, across our various settings. All our hostels are located within relatively close proximity and within no more than a 3 mile radius of each other. Due to increased need, we also offer dispersed emergency accommodation out in the community with Emergency Housing Officers providing support to customers in this type of accommodation too.
As an Emergency Housing Team Leader, you will assist the Emergency Housing Manager to deliver a high-quality, customer-orientated Emergency Housing service, working on the frontline within the services to provide cover, as and when required.
You will have responsibility for the day-to-day operations at the hostels ensuring effective and efficient service delivery. You will provide line management to the Emergency Housing Officers including supervision, appraisal, recruitment and induction responsibilities to meet BCH policy and provide appropriate support, guidance, coaching, advice and instruction to the team.
The role also requires effective collaboration with the housing benefit service, housing options, voluntary and statutory agencies, such as social services and other relevant departments, which will include contributing to the protocol/liaison meetings.
You will ensure adequate staff cover at all times to enable the services to operate safely and effectively. This can include carrying out ad-hoc weekend/bank holiday duties within Emergency Housing as necessary. In addition, you will ensure that all necessary service procedures and Health and Safety requirements and risk assessments are in place, reviewed regularly and updated as working practices change.
It is essential that candidates have valued supervisory skills, including setting, planning and monitoring workloads of team members and significant experience of working with and/or supporting vulnerable families.
You must also have significant experience of dealing with tenants in a social housing environment and experience of multi-agency partnership working.
Applicants are required to have an understanding of the principles of social housing, including emergency housing, customer rights, choices and how to provide appropriate support and knowledge of Safeguarding policy and practice and professional boundaries.
You must be an excellent communicator with a confident manner and the ability to remain calm under pressure and in crisis situation.
You must have a minimum of 3 GCSE’s or equivalent, at Grade C/4 or above to include Maths and English. A customer care or professional housing qualification would be desirable.
It is desirable for applicants to have access to a vehicle for work purposes due to potential travel between sites.
Any offer of appointment will be subject to a satisfactory enhanced clearance from the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as a CRB check).
