Specialist Audiologist (Deputy Head of Audiology)

Are you looking to take a step up in your career in paediatric audiology? This could be the role you are looking for. We have a vacancy for our deputy head of paediatric audiology post due to internal promotion. This is a part time position.
This is an important role in delivering specialist clinical activity in paediatric audiology with the chance to develop your leadership skills in a supportive environment. We are a large tertiary service with an active research programme.
You will be a specialist audiologist / Clinical Scientist / Healthcare Scientist with existing training and experience in paediatric audiology. If you can demonstrate a high standard of clinical abilities and a proven track record of service development, we would be interested to hear from you. You must have excellent communication skills and have a desire to find creative and effective solutions for children/young people of all ages and their families. Evidence of where you have already shown skills in leadership is expected and experience in line management would be an advantage.
We are a training department and you would be expected to take a significant role in our STP training programme.
Main duties of the job
1. Provision of specialist services in Paediatric Audiology
2. Provision of routine Audiology services
3. To work with the Head of the Paediatric service in developing the paediatric service
4. Using knowledge and experience in the training and supervision of junior staff
5. Maintaining own professional knowledge and contribute to the clinical developments of the department.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* MSc in Audiology or equivalent (or assessed study in Adult Rehabilitation Audiology at M-level)
* State registration (or working towards this if not yet eligible)
Experience
* Extensive experience in general audiology post-qualification.
* Significant experience in paediatric Audiology
* Experience in audit and service development
* Experience in line management
* Experience in monitoring and managing capacity and demand
Knowledge
* In-depth working knowledge of relevant national standards, policies, professional recommendations and guidelines
* Detailed knowledge of hearing aids and their processing strategies and other relevant new technologies
* Detailed knowledge of causes of hearing loss in children
Skills
* Advanced skills in adult and paediatric auditory rehabilitation and specialist tests of hearing function
* Computer-literate, with good keyboard skills
* Ability to extract clinical information from and communicate complex technical explanations to patients and carers.
* Ability to deal compassionately with families of children diagnosed with hearing loss
* Ability to lead and direct and inspire a team
* Advanced research skills
