We are looking for an enthusiastic and hard working Senior Health Care Assistant to join our Team in providing care for elective Orthopaedic Patients on Ward 1 at Wrightington Hospital.
We are an Admission and Day Case Unit caring for elective Orthopaedic patients undergoing Upper Limb Surgery. We work Monday - Friday with no weekend Bank Holiday or night duty shifts.
The Senior Health Care Assistant will be responsible for providing a range of personal care for patients and a range of clinical duties under the guidance of a registered healthcare professional
Senior Health Care Assistants work independently performing a number of clinical duties/tasks following training and meeting competency within role as per policy and procedure such as:
• Clinical Observations
• Assisting with the Admission and Discharge of Patients
• Assist the Registered Nurse in providing post-operative care
• Assisting patients with diet and fluids

On-Call
Please note that senior positions (AFC band 8A or above) may be expected to participate in an on-call rota, if the role is predominantly operational.
• Under the supervision, and working in partnership with a registered nurse, provide and deliver a high standard of nursing care
• Perform and record Clinical Observations
• Work with the Registered Nurse and other members of the MDT in ensuring a safe individualised approach to the admission and discharge of patients
• To safely undertake various procedures to meet the patients needs such as ECG recording, Venepuncture, recording Blood Glucose Levels, pressure area care, wound care
• Identify and report changes in a patient's condition to a Registered Nurse.
