Job summary We have a fantastic opportunity to join our Adult Speech and Language Therapy Service in Leicestershire. You will have the opportunity to work on both the Stroke Rehabilitation Unit at St Lukes in Market Harborough and within the wider community team. Stroke Unit: You will work as part of the SLT team alongside another Band 6 SLT, an SLT assistant and supported by our Band 7 stroke lead. The stroke rehabilitation unit has 20 beds and we provide SLT input on a one-to-one basis and in groups (including online carer education/support). Community team: As part of the community SLT team you will be involved in longer term rehabilitation for people following a stroke and/or other neurological/long term conditions, seeing patients in their own homes, remotely or in clinic.You will be working within a locality team alongside other SLTs and SLT assistants, supported by our community lead This post could be offered as a developing band 5/6 role for experienced band 5's, with adult dysphagia experience, who need some time and support to achieve their band 6 competencies. Our SLT Service is county-wide with good links with our acute hospital colleagues and supported by a dedicated admin team to provide a high-quality service to our patients. To continue to develop your knowledge and skills which we prioritise through a commitment to CPD in both internal and external training with protected time for CPD / professional reflection / mandatory training. Your development is supported by your annual appraisal and regular clinical and managerial supervision. To work both independently and as part of a team, being part of regular team meetings and contributing to the excellent support network which underpins our Service. Working with clinical assistants as appropriate to enhance therapeutic input. You will also be supported by our dedicated admin team and IT support. To be involved with service / quality improvement projects / research to develop different ways of working to enhance the care we provide. To be involved in the support and supervision of band 5 SLTs and students.
