Purpose:
As part of a geographically focused team, the role provides a housing landlord service to approximately 23,000 homes across Hull. This role delivers excellent local housing management services to tenants and stakeholders, aiming to improve neighbourhoods through effective tenancy management and community feedback.
Tenancy Officer key responsibilities:
Ensure the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults, recognizing abuse and neglect indicators and making necessary referrals.
Investigate breaches of tenancy, gather evidence, serve legal notices, prepare reports, and work with tenants to resolve issues.
Manage empty or abandoned properties, ensuring they are secure, following procedures to end tenancies correctly, and liaising with next of kin or public trustees when necessary.
Manage rent accounts, read and interpret financial data, ensure rent collection, and assist tenants with housing benefits and other welfare schemes.
Refer cases to court for possession, prepare witness statements, and carry out evictions, ensuring compliance with policies and legal requirements.
Act as the first point of contact for urgent rehousing needs, including high-risk and medical priority cases, and prepare emergency rehousing reports.
