The Royal Devon is seeking to appoint up to two consultants to our department of Diabetes and Endocrinology based solely at the North Devon District Hospital site in Barnstaple, or with cross site working at the Barnstaple and Exeter site if preferred. Both posts have opportunities for remote working.

Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust was established in April 2022, bringing together the Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust and the Northern Devon Healthcare NHS Trust to provide core services to a population of 615,000 and specialist services to a wider population across the South West Peninsula. It is a unique organisation with integrated acute and community services across North and mid Devon that shares one advanced electronic notes system (EPIC) with an integrated patient portal. The departments of Diabetes and Endocrinology are fully integrated and so work closely together as one team. Consultants deliver face-to-face, and remote care from both the Barnstaple and Exeter sites. The department will support newly appointed consultants to develop sub-specialty interests and to pursue research and teaching interests.

Specialty work is supported by an excellent multidisciplinary team including; diabetes specialist nurses, endocrine specialist nurses, dieticians, podiatrists and psychologists.
