Job summary A Pharmacy assistant is required to support the ward based clinical Pharmacy Services at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals Foundation Trust. The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate initiative and work to high standards of accuracy and reliability. Other duties are to provide support in implementing developments within clinical services to meet the needs of the patient. The post holder will also label, dispense and supply medication against hospital prescriptions. The post will be based at the either the Northern General Hospital or the Royal Hallamshire Hospital but you may be required to work in any of the sites across the Trust when required. This post could also be based within the STH theatres department working alongside a Multi-disciplinary team, as a Medicines Management Assistant. Theatres are on both STH sites so this post would be cross-site on a rotational basis. Main duties of the job To work with a multi-disciplinary team to provide support in the delivery of a safe, effective and cost efficient ward based, medicines management service. To provide support in implementing developments within clinical services to meet the needs of the patient. To label, dispense and supply medication against hospital prescriptions. To undertake stock top-ups at ward level to maintain supplies of medicines for STH patients. To transport stock or named patient medications between Dispensaries or Stores departments and put away securely at ward level. To work flexibly between the hours of 8am and 8pm as part of the ward based and operational team in order to provide and maintain a comprehensive pharmaceutical service in line with current departmental policies and procedures.
