Consultant in Infectious Diseases with either Microbiology or General Medicine NHS Lanarkshire - U niversity Hospital Monklands Applicants are invited for the posts of Consultant in Infectious Diseases with either Microbiology or General Medicine, based at University Hospital Monklands (UHM). Two new posts are available. Appointee’s will be working within the existing Infectious Diseases and/or Microbiology teams, this progressive and innovative development which continues to bring together the existing departments of Infectious Diseases and Microbiology. The introduction of these new posts will allow us to restructure how clinical infection services are delivered in NHS Lanarkshire, allowing a more holistic bench-to-bedside Infection service. In addition, NHS Lanarkshire is committed to developing pathways of care for our patients that avoid unnecessary hospital admissions and that support safe and timeous discharges. As part of this, there is a commitment to a large scale expansion of the regional OPAT (outpatient parenteral antibiotic therapy) and Infection Consult service in order to offer equitable access to OPAT across Lanarkshire for all patients who may benefit from outpatient IV antibiotics.
