Are you an experienced Quantity Surveyor looking for a leadership role in a dynamic and growing organisation?
We are seeking a Managing Quantity Surveyor - Maintenance & Investment Work to take a leading role in the commercial management of
our projects, ensuring financial control, effective cost management, and strong team leadership.
Responsibilities:
* Commercial lead for the monthly Cost Value Reconciliation (CVR) process and chair of month-end meetings to review financial
performance against forecasts and anticipated Cost to Complete.
* Provide accurate and timely financial documentation in line with the company’s reporting structure, including CVRs, management
accounts, and forecasts.
* Apply cost control procedures and provide regular feedback to the Commercial Director, including interim and final cost data to
the pre-construction teams.
* Manage cash flow effectively, ensuring timely applications, certifications, and payments, while maintaining strong
administration of sub-contractor accounts.
* Support the Commercial Director in vetting contractual documentation to align post-contract arrangements with tender
submissions.
* Oversee the Final Accounts process for Main Contracts, promoting strong relationships and dispute avoidance.
* Ensure optimal sub-contract administration, including robust order documentation, accurate payments, and effective dispute
resolution.
* Manage the resourcing of the QS team, ensuring each project is well-supported with an efficient management structure.
* Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, including Health & Safety, Environment, LMS, IT, and People Services.
* Conduct annual and interim Performance & Development Reviews, control attendance, and identify training needs.
* Support staff development through mentoring, professional growth initiatives, and progression towards full professional
membership.
* Maintain strong communication with the team, providing regular one-to-one discussions on performance and progress.
* Ensure adherence to employment legislation and company policies in areas such as recruitment, induction, discipline, and
absence management.
* Ensure timely billing and keep WIP/debt to a minimum by following financial Key Principles guidelines.
* Ensure invoicing/billing is accurate, timely, and representative of the work carried out, assigning the correct SOR code to
invoices.
* Act as the coordinator of insurance claims traffic, maintaining appropriate records and ensuring timely responses/actions.
Skills & Experience:
* Construction or Quantity Surveying qualification equivalent to NVQ Level 6
* Degree level or relevant professional qualification from within a business or construction discipline.
* Experience of commercial Quantity surveying / Estimating
* Understanding of contractual requirements for example, JCT and NEC Construction Contracts
* Minimum 3 years’ experience in a management/supervisory position
* Full UK or EU driving license
