Job Introduction
Are you a creative and strategic social media leader with a passion for children’s media and education? Have you got experience spearheading social campaigns and content creation across the UK’s biggest brands?
Come and join us, as a Social Media Manager for CBBC, BBC Bitesize and Newsround. This exciting role sits in Children’s & Education’s Social and YouTube team, reporting to the Head of Social and YouTube, working alongside leads across Digital Media, Platforms and Planning (DMPP), including Content Impact and Digital Planning, Web, Apps and Games.
You will be required to work with multiple stakeholders, from Commissioners to production companies to educators, to ensure editorial and content strategy aligns with audience need and showcases the BBC’s Value for All proposition. You will lead a team of 6 plus apprentices and freelancers and your core responsibility will be to deliver a coherent, consistent and most importantly fun social media experience for teens and tweens across Instagram, TikTok and WhatsApp, ensuring each account delivers on the agreed social strategy, maximises video views and engagement with the account's target audiences, delivers content of the highest creative quality, and drives traffic around the BBC portfolio.
Main Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities Of The Role Will Include:
* Line manage the Social Media Executives/Coordinators and other relevant social media roles as required. Provide day-to-day task management, including setting out clear responsibilities, objectives and performance standards.
* Agree budget allocation for social activity with the Head of Social and other budget holders, and be responsible for ensuring campaigns are delivered within budgets, agreed timeframes and quality standards, working with external and in-house suppliers.
* Advocate for innovation and monitor external trends and developments in the world of digital and social media, maintaining industry links, utilising new technological approaches.
* Stay abreast of competitor activity and feeding in ideas for innovation and continued best practice via regular reporting.
* Act as the editorial lead for one or more social media accounts, making editorial decisions to support Social Media Executives/Coordinators and digital production roles where appropriate, and escalating to the Head of Social and other relevant senior stakeholders when necessary.
* Lead social creative campaigns, liaising with digital production, media engagement and third parties as required and ensuring that all work is aligned with relevant strategies and production plans.
* Collaborate with internal and external social account teams, Marketing and Comms to ensure that strategy and editorial plans are aligned, and engaged reach is maximised.
* Work with relevant social media measurement teams to agree tracking and evaluation metrics to monitor performance, to evaluate audience behaviour and to provide recommendations to inform future planning, strategy development and activity.
* Ensure all social activity is correctly complied (as per BBC brand guidelines) and is in line with BBC editorial guidelines.
