Then this role may be for you DWP is recruiting a Universal Credit Service Leader to lead the delivery of Universal Credit across Dorset, Wiltshire, Hampshire & Isle of Wight. This Service Leader role is high profile and business critical, with responsibility for all functions undertaken for Universal Credit Service Delivery. Universal Credit (UC) is at the heart of the governments welfare agenda designed to simplify the benefit system by bringing together a range of working age benefits into a single payment whilst supporting customers to find work. Our UC teams provide labour market support through an extensive network of jobcentres. Dorset, Wiltshire, Hampshire and Isle of Wight district is made up of 30 jobcentres withover 1300colleagues helping customers return to or move closer to work whilst also supporting the most vulnerable in society. The role will include extensive external stakeholder management alongside engagement at a senior level with other Government Departments. The role will be based inan officelocation, but Service Leaders will be required to be visible in the Job Centres across their district and wider business area. This is a workplace-based role and not suitable for hybrid working. This is not a command and control leadership role. Job description Successful candidates can expect to be involved in a range of the following: You will be an active member of your Senior Leadership Team, contributing to the wider departmental agenda and providing visible, accessible and effective senior leadership, taking a personal lead in communicating messages with clarity and conviction, engaging with activities outside of your district. Creating and sustaining effective patnerships and relationships with senior stakeholders including Directors and key partners, managing the complexity of change whilst being able to stand up to public and political scrutiny. Critically you will understand the local labour market to identify innovative opportunities to work collaboratively with local partners including a range of local authorities. You will embrace, facilitate and lead out the governments ambitions around localism. Impacting local characteristic and wider labour market policy and exploiting opportunities for joint working with external partners. Confidently leading through ambiguity and ability to adapt quickly to changing direction and priorities, encouraging the use of systems principles and tools for complex problems by promoting collaboration across traditional siloes, within or outside the team. You will need to be a resourceful, self-starting leader with experience of delivering excellent customer service in a fast-paced environment and leading large commands to deliver high levels of performance,with the ability to use customer and community insights to drive a quality and inclusive service. As an exceptional leader, you must be able to inspire and empower others to deliver against all agreed operational measures. You will lead people engagement across your sites, setting high standards for leadership throughout the business and across the one service. Demonstrate strong and effective change management; and be accountable for the delivery and quality of activity in your area. You will positively respond to and lead change, ensuring the rationale is understood by your teams and stakeholders. Key Criteria for this role are: Strong leadership experience, both personal and corporate, in changing circumstances, with experience of successfully leading and motivating high performing teams. This includes influencing outcomes, having challenging conversations, and building the trust and commitment needed to deliver.
