We are looking for an ambitious M&A Correspondent with a proven record of developing sources and breaking agenda-setting financial and business stories. In this position, you will be first to report on the most significant deals as well as being a leading voice on key trends and developments in the industry. You will seek out the story behind the news, unpacking complex deals and report on the movers and shakers that are shaping M&A. The high-profile role will see you working closely with the Reuters global finance and markets team and the broader newsroom.
About the Role
As our M&A Correspondent, you will:
1. Regularly break news on a wide range of transactions such as transformational mergers and takeovers, public-to-private deals, restructurings and capital markets deals
2. Combine regular news breaks with enterprise stories to reveal how complex transactions came together and the people behind them
3. Join the dots in your reporting, telling the bigger story
4. Work seamlessly and collaboratively with the team and newsroom colleagues to deliver comprehensive stories quickly
About You
To be our M&A Correspondent, you are likely to have:
·An ability to break fast-moving news on deals across EMEA
·A good base of existing relationships among bankers, lawyers, investors and company insiders
·A good understanding of public takeovers and the unique regulatory environment in Britain
·Excellent interviewing techniques and tenacity in following lead
·Ability to shape copy into engaging stories that appeal to both a financial audience and Reuters media clients
·First-class news judgement and ability to spot trends and generate innovative story ideas
·Excellent writing skills to produce accurate and unbiased news content in accordance with Reuters standards
