What you’ll do: At Voyis, the Business Development Associate for Offshore Energy will play a critical role in driving sustainable and profitable growth in the subsea industry. Focused on the Offshore Energy sector, including Offshore Renewables and Offshore Oil & Gas, your mission will be to expand Voyis’ presence and influence globally by promoting our innovative products, systems, and services. Reporting directly to the Head of Offshore Energy, you will collaborate closely with Voyis’ Sales, Product, and Marketing teams to build market awareness, engage with key stakeholders, and influence the trajectory of Voyis’ subsea technology in this sector. This role involves direct, face-to-face engagement with customers and their end clients to promote Voyis’ capabilities and explore development opportunities within their operational frameworks. You will leverage various business development techniques, including identifying and cultivating new market opportunities, implement effective sales and marketing strategies and coordinating sales activities to achieve the market growth targets, gather and communicate valuable market insights to inform business strategies, and respond to and seek Request for Information (RFIs) to drive business alignment. Additionally, you will ensure that Voyis’ equipment specifications are included in survey contracts while providing comprehensive tools and support to internal sales teams and external partners, including agents and resellers. A critical aspect of this role is capturing and relaying the voice of the customer to Voyis’ Product Management team. Your insights will directly shape future product developments, ensuring our offerings align with market needs and customer expectations. Travel destinations may include, but are not limited to, Waterloo, ON, Canada (Voyis HQ), various locations in the UK, Newfoundland (Canada), Houston and Louisiana (USA), Brazil, Singapore, Perth (Australia), the UAE, and Europe. Responsibilities: · Client Engagement: Attend and host remote and in-person meetings with clients and end-clients to promote Voyis’ equipment capabilities and gather feedback. Identify and report on new sales opportunities, including cross-sell and up-sell prospects, and liaison with Sales to ensure the deal is secured. · Relationship Building: Foster strong, lasting relationships with customers, end-clients, industry leaders, and innovators through frequent and meaningful interactions. · Brand Advocacy: Enhance Voyis’ reputation by actively networking, participating in trade bodies, presenting at conferences, publishing technical papers, hosting webinars, and executing innovative marketing initiatives. · Product Collaboration: Provide customer relevant Voyis products and services, collaborating closely with product managers to define new product and technology requirements for the Offshore Energy market. · Performance and Market Reporting : Provide regular reports on commercial performance, including success and challenges of market initiatives, product developments, board updates, and detailed market information packs. · Customer Advocacy: Act as the voice of the customer within Voyis, delivering post-delivery feedback and feature requests to guide the product roadmap and future development. · Cross-Market Collaboration: Be a key stakeholder across all Voyis core markets (Oil & Gas, Offshore Renewables, Ocean Science, and Civil Infrastructure), supporting business development initiatives beyond Offshore Energy and collaborating with sales, marketing, and BD teams to define subsea industry business development initiatives. · Tender Support: Assist in the creation and submission of tenders and engineering specifications to support the sales team, including follow-up on specific opportunities to drive sales success. Skills you will bring to the table: · Post-secondary education in Business, Engineering, or a related field. · 4 years experience in business development or commercial sales within a technical or engineering-focused industry. · Proven ability to define and prioritize strategic business initiatives that align with company goals. · Demonstrate business development acumen and leverage experience in supporting new business opportunities and innovative sales models. · Proven experience of building networks and effective business relationships within and external to the organisation. · Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities, with the capacity to deliver technical presentations in diverse settings (public, private, in-person, or remote). · General understanding of mechanical, electrical, networking, and software systems to effectively engage with technical teams and clients. · Inquisitive mindset with a strong desire to learn, particularly about customer needs and how they can shape product offerings. Bonus Points for: · Well-established international network of energy operators, survey companies, and class society contacts. · Proven ability to influence across indirect resources and multi-disciplinary teams to achieve revenue targets and objectives. · Familiarity with subsea survey or exploration, and experience working in offshore or ocean survey environments. · Demonstrated experience working with energy majors such as BP, Shell, Equinor, or similar organizations. · Understanding of data processing techniques, including photo processing, 3D modeling, point clouds, and photogrammetry. · Knowledge of data processing (photo processing, 3D modeling, point clouds, photogrammetry) · Knowledge or experience in mechatronics, encompassing electrical, mechanical, software, and robotics systems. · Familiarity with optical systems, including cameras, lights, and laser scanners.
