The Holt Bar & Terrace is a thriving café, bar and events venue based within Budleigh Salterton Cricket Club’s newly built clubhouse and grounds, with incredible views over the Otter valley and out to sea.
We are looking for:
A General Manager to oversee the Club’s commercial operation – The Holt Bar & Terrace.
They will see this as an exciting new opportunity to oversee a new, up and coming café, bar and restaurant in a highly sought-after location.
They will help to manage the venue, oversee events and ensure that The Holt is a welcoming and enticing space for its members, players, supporters, and the public all year round.
* Role Type: 40 hours per week, permanent. A part-time applicant may be considered depending on experience, wage to be negotiated separately.

* Salary: £35 - £40k plus a bonus linked to key performance objectives
Overview:
The General Manager is responsible for the overall running and efficient management of The Holt Bar & Terrace and all its commercial operations.
Reporting to the BSCC committee to ensure that all the bar, café, catering provisions, community events, client events and other commercial ventures are managed effectively.
They will be responsible for the line management of the kitchen and bar team but will be expected to be ‘hands-on’ as a key part of day-to-day operations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Ensuring the management & operation of The Holt Bar & Terrace.
2. Ensuring the venue is fit for purpose and presented to the highest standards.
3. In partnership with the Club Treasurer, preparation and development of invoices, budgets and financial planning.
4. Motivate and lead a team of staff at all levels to achieve common goals.
5. Planning, co-ordinating and promoting successful events for both The Holt and its clients.
6. Ensure the café and bar are offering a high standard of food and customer experience for members and visitors.
7. Ensuring all operations are compliant with all relevant laws and regulations, including but not limited to health & safety, employment and licensing.
8. Updating and introducing new policies and procedures.
9. Ensuring standards are maintained within The Holt. Overseeing the cleaning, security, repairs and maintenance.
10. Demonstrate excellent customer service and communication skills.
11. Represent us professionally in all dealings with third parties.

Person Specification:
Experience:
* Strong track record of working in the hospitality sector including relevant management experience.
* Proven commercial acumen.
* Knowledge of licensed premises regulations.
* Planning and organising events.
* Team management and staff training.
Skills & Abilities:
* A clear understanding of the issues of a multi-functional and seasonal business.
* Excellent management and administrative skills.
* Competent in using IT and social media.
* Working with a diverse membership base and promoting The Holt Bar & Terrace and BSCC as a welcoming community asset.
Personal Qualities:
* Good communications, leadership and diplomacy skills.
* An appreciation of cricket and its traditions within a commercially focused environment.
* A hands-on work ethic and a flexible approach to working hours and working weekends and evenings (particularly during the cricket season).
