Description
Eager to explore new possibilities in the legal field? We are seeking a Small Claims Handler to join our Recoveries Team.
The purpose of the Small Claims Handler is to effectively manage a portfolio of Delegated (DA) litigated cases where a Defence has been received to ensure that damages and costs are recovered, and in appropriate cases, judgment is requested in a timely manner and if necessary referred to enforcement.

Key Accountabilities
* Organising, prioritising and handling own workload in line with standard operating procedures to ensure that critical dates are met and KPI’s and SLA’s are achieved.
* Effective management of the litigation process to ensure KPI’s and SLA’s are achieved.
* Adhering to all Court deadlines.
* Drafting of court documents.
* Liaising with the policyholder and other witnesses including drafting witness statements.
* Applying for judgment.
* Negotiation of quantum on appropriate cases.
* Ensuring prompt payment of damages and costs by the defendant.
* Instructing enforcement.
* Effective use of the case management system to ensure:
o Reserving and all other key information is accurate and updated in a timely manner.
o Critical dates are met.
o All actions/strategies are documented by way of a file note.
o All documents in the history are clearly labelled.
* Delivering quality work, as a minimum meeting audit benchmark standards.
* Driving own personal development.
* Contributing to team effort by working collaboratively to ensure that team targets are achieved and by positively contributing to team morale.
Working Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm with 1 unpaid hour for lunch. Primary location for this role is Parklands, Bolton. This is a hybrid role working 1 day in the office and 4 days from home.
Experience, Skills and Qualifications
* Experience of working in a legal environment.
* Preferably experience of quantum negotiations.
* Demonstrate experience of and the ability to:
o Work to set deadlines.
o Deal with calls and enquiries from customers, suppliers and/or the public.
o Organise and prioritise their workload.
o Work as part of a team.
o IT literate: proficient in use of Microsoft Office packages (Excel and Word).
o Excellent listening and verbal communication skills.
o Ability to remain calm under pressure.
o Ability to take constructive feedback and set personal goals for continuous improvement.
