Transport is a critical sector both in terms of low carbon transition and electrification. There is significant challenge ahead for electricity connections as this transition happens. NGED (National Grid Electricity Distribution) needs to enable this change: supporting customers to get connected when and where they need it, in the most cost-effective way. This role is critical to ensuring NGED is an enabler of net zero.
An opportunity is available for a Transport Decarbonisation Manager, based at one of National Grid’s head offices (ideally London, but Bristol, Warwick or Castle Donnington are also options), with the opportunity for hybrid working.
The role will engage with our customers involved in transport decarbonisation, supporting them through the connections process. With significant change ahead as the transport sector decarbonises, understanding the needs of customers at different stages of the customer journey will be important. You will be instrumental in shaping and managing the connections processes which meet these customer needs.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to make an impact across National Grid Electricity Distribution, and towards the delivery of Net Zero Carbon.
Responsibilities
* Customer engagement, to understand their needs and preferences.
* Identify, initiate and project manage opportunities to improve connections processes including design of consumer journeys through the connections process to meet the identified needs.
* Relationship management for strategic transport decarbonisation customers, being a go-to person who can resolve strategic connections issues.

Part of this will involve thinking strategically, using critical thinking to identify and propose solutions to complex problems with the future context in mind.
The successful candidate will be skilled in stakeholder engagement, and have the ability to influence different audiences.
You must be an effective communicator who can lead and affect change, gaining buy-in across the organisation. You should be able to demonstrate the ability to influence strategies within the organisation’s political realities and constraints.
