Our client, based in Trafford Park, is looking to recruit an experienced Shift Lead/Supervisor.
The role involves supervising a team of Engineering/Production workers.
Hours:
Monday to Friday - 3 shifts rotating pattern. Mornings, Afternoons & Nights.
Responsibilities & Duties
Safety: Manage the daily safety of all employees within your area by creating an active safety culture where all staff members share the same beliefs, perceptions, and values towards HSE and its criticality within the workplace.
Quality: Ensure all staff in your section adhere to the Quality specifications by fostering a Right First Time approach to all work undertaken within the area. Ensure staff are well versed with both the route cards and the specifications, driving sustainable improvements to ensure quality issues aren’t repeated.
Delivery: Ensure production throughput against the schedule is met by setting daily targets for all employees within your area. Inform individuals of their role within the team and their criticality to ensure production targets are achieved.
Cost: Identify business improvement opportunities and assist in the implementation by working closely with the businesses Continuous Improvement team.
People Management: Through effective communication, create a culture of trust and collective responsibility for both success and failures to enhance teamwork across the department. Carry out Welcome to Work/Toolbox talks to communicate daily targets, assign duties, and brief out One Point Lessons (OPLs).
Responsible for the daily management and support of a small team to guarantee operational success. Ensure all production operatives are engaged and utilized at all times.
Identify training needs in the area to ensure the team can carry out critical activities which enable business objectives to be met.
Actively manage employees within the area, to ensure Company Policies and Procedures are adhered to.
Assist in accident and non-conformity investigations relating to both HSE and Quality, including the compiling of reports, with suggested closure actions.
Relationship Management: Develop a positive relationship between immediate colleagues and peers to create a healthy work environment. Provide encouragement to team members and communicate daily goals.
Ensure clear lines of communication are maintained between all sections on the shop floor, with the goal of improving HSE, Quality, and output.
Self-management: Self-motivated individual, with a positive optimistic attitude, who is a confident and rounded thinker. Engage the interest and participation of others, creating a collaborative working environment.
Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience:
Experience of managing small diverse teams. Supervisory/leadership experience/training would be an advantage. Basic Microsoft office skills, email, word, and excel. Ability to communicate effectively at all levels both written and verbal.
Hours of work:
Working across all 3 shifts - Rotating pattern. Mornings, Afternoons & Nights.
Bupa:
Offered after 6-months probationary period.
Holidays: 25 days in a full year plus the bank holidays pro-rata in the first year, holidays accrue at the rate of 2 days per complete month worked.
Death in Service:
Insurance from day 1 currently the benefit specification is 1 x salary for those in probationary period and 4 x salary thereafter.
