Band 7 - £46,148 - £52,809 per annum pro rata
Hours: 22.5 hours per week, all MKUH roles will be considered for flexible working

The position is offered on a part-time basis working 3 days a week (Monday to Friday) in our Outpatient Pharmacy. Since opening in April 2022, we have grown our service and continue to build on this growth to strive to offer a great pharmacy service for our community. As a result, we are proud to offer expert care and advice to our patients, staff and visitors on a day to day basis, putting safety and patient experience at the centre of what we do.

• To support the Superintendent Pharmacist in ensuring the safe, efficient and effective delivery of pharmaceutical services within the outpatient pharmacy for staff and visitors to MKUH.
• To facilitate and support the optimal and affordable use of medicines.
• To comply with pharmacy procedures, clinical governance, quality assurance and risk management.
Training and support will be provided so you will be able to confidently provide high-quality care to our patients,attending a range of outpatient clinics (Dermatology, Rheumatology, TB, Gastroenterology, Antenatal, Paediatrics, ENT and Fracture Clinic) or advising on over the counter (OTC) medicines. You will also work as part of the wider outpatient team and will regularly engage with other healthcare professionals.

Trust responsibilities:
• To be part of the Pharmacy team and work with staff within the pharmacy department and across the Trust to enable the objectives of the Trust to be achieved.
Professional responsibilities:
• To be accountable for the delivery of high quality, patient centred, safe and progressive outpatient pharmacy servicesand work in accordance with GPhC Standards for Pharmacy Professionals 2017.
• To provide day to day operational management for pharmacy services when acting as Responsible Pharmacist (RP), ensuring compliance with the relevant statutory and professional standards.
Clinical practice:
• To participate in clinical validation and accuracy checking within the outpatient pharmacy.
• To demonstrate excellent negotiation skills to influence prescribing in order to optimise patient care.
Staff management, training & development:
• To provide day-to-day clinical and professional leadership and supervision of the outpatient pharmacy team when acting as RP.
• To contribute to the competency-based training and assessment other staff including Pre-Registration Technicians and Foundation Trainee Pharmacists.
Operational management:
• To contribute to the delivery of a high quality and timely outpatient pharmacy service for staff and visitors.
• To contribute to the planning, development and evaluation of outpatient pharmacy services in accordance with changing needs and developments.
Medicines management:
• To ensure the day-to-day safe and appropriate management of controlled drugs (CDs) in the outpatient pharmacy. Legal responsibility for CDs whilst acting as the Responsible Pharmacist (RP) will remain with the RP.
Financial:
• To contribute to the optimisation and development of the overall profitability of the outpatient pharmacy business.
Communication:
• To develop effective working relationships with the outpatient clinical multidisciplinary team (MDT).
Confidentiality:
• To respect and maintain the privacy of all information given to and/or held within the outpatient pharmacy
Quality & safety:
• To work with the Superintendent Pharmacist to enhance and develop the outpatient pharmacy service to include participation in audit and quality improvement projects.
Personal & professional development:
• To be responsible for keeping up to date with current developments in Pharmacy.
Governance:
• To contribute to the development and review of Standard Operating Procedures.
