Main Purpose of Job
To ensure that Henniker maintains its position as a leading global provider of plasma treatment systems for cleaning, surface activation and functional nano-scale coating. Henniker plasma treatment equipment is trusted globally in both critical industrial manufacturing settings and by leading academic research groups. Henniker systems are used in biomedical research, life sciences, energy storage, filtration and many other areas of materials science.

Role and Responsibilities
The Engineering Manager will be responsible for the design, development and continuous improvement of Henniker’s range of plasma technology products. The role provides a mix of hands-on design and strategic leadership of a multi-disciplined engineering group both internal and external.
* Design and development of engineering systems and components primarily mechanical with electronics and software integration.
* Maintain relevant external engineering partners to improve quality of design solution outputs.
* Technical document writing and authentic presenting to business.
* Validation testing of new products as defined by project needs.
* Appropriate project management activities delivering market readiness of new products.
* Create and develop engineering team.
* Assist business functions such as service department in progressing fault reports from customer sites.
* Achieve a high level of product knowledge, including both Henniker and competitor products as appropriate.
* Provide data required for ensuring confidence in the quality of product portfolio.
* Design/Build of test equipment as necessary for product testing activities.
* Collaborate with internal specialists and authorised representative to gather required documentation, collate and arrange filling of CE|UKCA requirements.
* Maintain up to date knowledge of relevant, wider, safety, quality and regulatory standards.
* Conduct Engineering test investigations through research, testing and data analysis
* Leadership of continuous improvement activities for product portfolio and wider processes.
Performance and Measurement
* Successful design, development and commercialisation of new products, on-time, to cost estimate and to agreed requirements.
* Concise, detailed, and accurate reporting of results, input into future products and ongoing demonstrated product improvements.
* Ability to meet customer expectations and to maintain Henniker’s established reputation for excellence.
* Administrative routines and records kept accurately and up to date.
* Strategic creation and development of engineering team.
Qualifications Requirements
* Minimum Batchelor's degree in engineering or related discipline
Required Experience and Skills
* Experience in managing small engineering teams in a growing business.
* Effective communication skillsets including ability to write clear and concise documentation, presenting to wider audience.
* Continuous improvement experience utilising skillsets such as root cause analysis and waste reduction techniques.
* Strong experience in mechanical design.
* Use of CAD tools to create design files.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
* Ability to cope with rapidly changing demands on time and prioritise jobs according to urgency.
* Excellent communication skills, the ability to challenge and question while maintaining positive relationships.
* Positive problem-solving mentality with willingness to challenge wider team to find appropriate solutions.
* Ability to prioritise multiple tasks and work in a co-ordinated manner with sympathy for business needs.
Preferred Experience and Skills
* Minimum 5 years’ relevant industrial experience.
* Plasma technology.
* Vacuum systems.
* Electronics and software understanding.
Additional Notes
Although based on site at henniker scientific this role may include travel both domestic and overseas: Valid driving licence beneficial and passport required.
Attendance at trade shows means that ability to sit/stand for long periods is required.
Assisting with packing/unpacking products will require bending, lifting, and carrying heavy equipment.
