Key Accountabilities
The Business Intelligence team has been established to help colleagues and clients make data as accessible and actionable as possible. Aligned to a strategic contract in the Instore business, this role will drive data-led decision-making in all areas of the contract and is a client-facing role. The ideal candidate will leverage analytical tools and methodologies to support business operations, with Power BI and SQL experience gained in a retail or hospitality setting. Importantly, the Senior Insight Manager must be adept at translating data into action across performance (at a product, channel, store, and contract level) and customer satisfaction. Elements of performance will include pricing, ranging, availability, waste management, and pricing.
Responsibilities:
1. Deliver Actionable Insights: Produce clear, evidence-based recommendations to improve pricing, promotions, range, financial performance, and operational efficiency.
2. Pricing: Develop pricing models using both benchmarking and value-led pricing methodologies in multiple channel formats (in store and Q-commerce).
3. Customer & Market Research: Design and oversee research projects, including third-party surveys (e.g., YouGov), to capture consumer sentiment and operational performance.
4. Range Performance Analysis: Use data to evaluate and optimize range and promotions, as well as other revenue-generating strategies.
5. Operational Efficiency Insights: Identify opportunities to improve product availability and labor optimization.
6. Customer Experience & Satisfaction: Analyze survey and in-store consumer satisfaction data to drive improvements in service and experience.
7. Client Review Participation: Support client review processes with data-driven insights and recommendations.
8. KPI Development: Build and agree KPIs for reporting.
9. Reporting: Develop and maintain regular reporting for both internal and external audiences.
Key Stakeholders
The Insight Manager is expected to integrate with key stakeholders on the contract team, including the Business Director, Marketing Manager, Finance Manager, and Operational Leads, as well as key roles within the client business.
Requirements:
1. Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
2. Strong stakeholder management skills.
3. Excellent commercial acumen, refined in a relevant retail or hospitality setting.
4. Strong analytical skills and experience with a variety of data analysis tools, ideally including Python.
5. Effective communicator, with proven experience of translating complex concepts into real-world actions.
6. Advanced Microsoft Excel and expert user of Power BI.
7. Comfortable with SQL for querying.
8. Basic understanding of APIs and data extraction methods is beneficial.
