1. To work as a member of the inter-professional team and assist the registered nurses and medical team in identifying patient fitness and suitability for elective surgery.
2. Support the development of pre-operative assessment triage clinic PACT.
3. To contribute to the efficient running of the clinics and a happy and supportive working environment for patients and staff.
4. To work closely with the receptionists.
Responsibilities
5. To ensure patient privacy, dignity and confidentiality at all times.
6. To perform observations such as height, weight and BMI calculations, peak flow, oxygen saturation levels, blood pressure readings and tests including urine analysis, phlebotomy and recording ECGs. Record results in the electronic patient record and report findings to the patients named nurse.
7. To remove and replace dressing as requested by registered staff and remove simple sutures
8. Work within department protocols to request Blood and MRSA Investigation
9. To ensure that all appropriate documentation and equipment is available for the outpatient clinics. To help ensure that all appropriate documentation and equipment is accounted for and returned to the appropriate area and/or department at the end of the clinic.
10. To assist registered nurse with late cover in OPD if clinics are running late.
11. To welcome patients and record their arrival into the department.
