INTERACTION HEALTH AND SOCIAL CARE ARE LOOKING FOR A DEPUTY MANAGER FOR A CHILDREN'S SERVICE IN LIVERPOOL
Main Purpose of the Role:
The Deputy Manager is responsible for utilising effectively all available resources to deliver.evidence-based, outcomes-focussed childcare in the absence of the Registered Manager. Under thedirection of the Registered Manager you will demonstrate practical leadership and management inchildcare, organise and support staff to provide the best possible care foreach child and young.person.
The Deputy Manager is employed for 40 hours per week, which will include day duties working withthe manager, evenings, weekends, and sleeping-in duties.
The Deputy Manager will support the Registered Manager in delivering high quality care for the children and young people that reside in the home, as well as the developments of the home. The Deputy Manager will support the Registered Manager in ensuring that the home is compliant with Regulations, and that the regulatory documents are maintained and updated regularly.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:Supporting the Registered Manager:
Ensure the effective implementation of the Children Act 1989 and the accompanying guidance and regulations (Vol.4 Residential Care), the Care Standards Act 2000 and the Childrens Homes Regulations 2001. This will be achieved in consultation with the relevant statutory body.
Ensure that any matters relating to child protection are managed in line with currentlegislation, national standards, and best safeguarding practice.
Maintain the highest possible standards of childcare and ensure that each child and youngpersons agreed placement plan is fully implemented.
Co-ordinate and access the appropriate services (health, education, therapy) to ensure theneeds of each child and young person is met.
Supporting the Registered Manager with maintaining records and documents for the home, in line with regulatory requirements.
Any other tasks as required.

Leadership:
Lead and manage a team of Residential Childcare workers.
Engage in supervision with the Registered Homes Manager.
Day-to-day leadership and management in childcare practice within the home, modelling best practice to ensure best outcomes for children and young people.
Ensure that all staff are familiar with, and implement, (Supporting Journeys) SJpractice regarding safeguarding and child protection.
Induct, supervise, coach, and appraise staff, ensuring that they, in turn, embrace and deliver the approach in their engagement with children and young people.
Prepare agenda, lead, and ensure the timely recording of staff meetings as directed.
Participate in the on-call system outside of designated hours.
To manage the home in the absence of the Registered Manager.
Support with the management of the homes budget, as directed by the homes manager.
Undertaking annual appraisal of carers.
Addressing issues in relation to conduct and competence of carers.
Undertaking management investigations when required.
Assist the Registered Manager in promoting personal and professional development through the appropriate delegation of duties and responsibilities.Service Development:
To be involved in recruitment of staff including short-listing, interviewing, and inducting new employees.
Supervise a team of Residential Childcare workers.
Develop Individual Personal Development Plans with staff, to ensure that their training needs are identified and met in line with SJ approach to childcare.
Ensure that staff are remaining compliant with their training needs and competency assessments.
Take all reasonable steps to ensure that the accommodation is maintained to safe, high standards.
Manage delegated budgets to ensure maximum effectiveness and efficiencies as directed by the Registered Manager.
Manage the rota to ensure optimal child welfare within existing resources.
To ensure that the homes regulatory standards are maintained, including:
o Statement of Purpose
o Childrens Guide
o Location Risk Assessment
o Health and Safety
Manage complaints in the absence of the manager.
Any other tasks as required.
