We are designing innovative investment products for a retail customer, starting with actively managed public equities, alternative assets, and a portfolio line of credit. We’re a small group of entrepreneurs, investors, and technologists, with experience building, scaling, and exiting several successful fintech businesses. About the job As Senior Equity Analyst / Junior Portfolio Manager, you will be involved in all aspects of managing an active equity portfolio. You will undertake fundamental research on companies to make insightful investment recommendations which contribute to relative outperformance over rolling 3-year periods. You will be working closely with our Senior Portfolio Manager on individual investment strategies, from idea generation through to portfolio construction, asset allocation, and ongoing monitoring. The role provides a unique opportunity to build and contribute to an investment product within a technology start-up environment. You will be one of the first key hires within the investment team and will have the opportunity to shape the environment, culture, and processes to deliver genuinely innovative investment solutions. Responsibilities Ensuring up to date knowledge of relevant areas to contribute to long-term investment performance. Independently identify suitable investment opportunities. Conduct differentiated bottom-up analysis of industries, business models, new technologies and companies. Perform detailed valuation and financial modelling for prospective and existing portfolio holdings. Write high quality investment research reports for use both internally and externally. External representation of Sidekick within the industry and directly with customers. Expect to be up-front-and-centre in customer communication, portfolio updates and general media engagement. About you 5-10 years’ experience in equity research at a reputable investment firm (preferably buy-side) US equity research focus desirable. Professional Qualification - CFA Expertise in financial analysis / modelling, including proficiency in quantitative analysis tools / techniques. Experience using Bloomberg for research and financial modelling. An exceptional academic background in a relevant subject. A strong understanding of risk factors (macro-economic, industry, style) that drive returns. A strong work ethic. Someone who can contribute to a culture of excellence whilst also being hands-on and willing to get stuck in. Excited about working collaboratively as part of an inter-disciplinary, technology startup. Wants to disrupt the industry and do things differently. Strong communication skills, with an interest in and ability to articulate and deliver investment analysis and updates via modern media formats. High levels of integrity and a commitment to establishing and maintaining the highest ethical and professional standards. This role will require ongoing certification under the UK Senior Manager & Certification Regime.
