FLS South Region have responsibility for managing almost 170,000ha of land, with huge variety and potential, spread all the way from the Borders to the Isle of Arran. In the South Region, FLS sustainably produce over a million cubic metres of timber every year; replant over 2,000 ha for future generations use; build roads and bridges; support many renewable energy projects; restore opencast sites and create new woodland, restore peatlands and manage some fantastic biodiversity sites and species. The purpose of this post is to support the Planning Managers who lead on Land Management Planning reflecting Scottish Government objectives for the South Region. The post holder will also support the development and delivery of regional strategies and land management projects such as conifer natural regeneration management, building resilience into our Land Management Plans, implementation of a regional thinning plan and management of SPHNs. You will provide support and mentoring to the team of Forest Planners on the development of Land Management Plans and analyse and understand the implications of proposals. You will be familiar with operating within relevant legal and statutory frameworks including the the UKFS and the Forest Regulatory Environment.
