An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Clinical Trials Pharmacy team at Kings College Hospital as a Senior Pharmacy Technician.
The post holder will work with the Clinical Trial pharmacy team to undertake the set-up, training of staff, dispensing & checking and smooth running of all clinical trials, across the Trust. Your role is to be a key participant in the Pharmacy trial set-up and maintenance processes in line with national and organisational targets. You will also be responsible for writing robust Standard Operating Procedures and ensuring we provide our local and wider community exceptional care.
Main duties of the job
* To be responsible for the implementation of policies and procedures specific to Clinical Trials that will have an impact within the pharmacy department.
* To contribute to wider policies that have an impact within the pharmacy department and across the Trust.
* To assist in the regular review and update of Clinical Trial policies and procedures as agreed with the Principal Technician, Clinical Trials.
* To propose changes to working practices and dispensing techniques that will maximise the potential for efficiency and safety.
* Act as a role model in the field of clinical trials and provide a consistently high level of pharmaceutical service in line with corporate objectives and initiatives.
* To assist in the training and supervision of staff working in Clinical Trials as part of their induction.

* To support the Principal Technician, Clinical Trials in the development of the Clinical Trials Service.
* To attend and contribute to any regional and national meetings in relation to Clinical Trials and to feedback and recommend any changes and/or improvements to the service as appropriate to the Principal Technician, Clinical Trials.
* To be able to follow departmental SOPs.
* To be able to use pharmacy computer systems correctly, enter data accurately from transcription sheets, prescription forms and any other prescriptions written by others and ensure that data is stored and archived appropriately in accordance with local and regionally agreed guidelines.
* To deputise for the Principal Technician Clinical Trials when required.
* Ensure staffing resource is adequate for the requirement of the service on a day-to-day basis.

Skills
Essential
* Ability to communicate effectively using clear written and spoken English.
Qualifications
Essential
* Hold a General Pharmaceutical Council-recognised Level 3 or 4 Pharmacy Technician qualification or equivalent (integrated or non-integrated).
* Professional registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
* Accredited Checking Technician qualification or working towards.
Experience
Essential
* Knowledge of all regulations and legislation relevant to Clinical Trials.
* Knowledge of all regulations and legislation relevant to Pharmacy Dispensary Services.
* Experience relevant to Hospital Pharmacy Practice with assessed competencies or equivalent experience.
* Knowledge of Pharmacy computer systems e.g., JAC, Ascribe and EPIC.
