Design Manager (Interior) VervLife is a leading provider of Co-Living, Build to Rent (BTR) multifamily and single-family rental (SFR) accommodation services across the UK and are now seeking a Design Manager to be part of its rapidly expanding team. Working Hours: 40 hours per week, 9.00am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday with 30min lunch break Salary: £40 000-£45 000 dependant on experience Location: Harrogate, HG2 8QT / Home based (Hybrid) A successful candidate must be willing to travel to other sites and offices and stay overnight as and when required. VervLife operates across the UK in the Co-Living, BTR and SFR sectors. An important part of the role is bringing forward a successful and viable scheme for our clients. Thisis based on improving room and amenity layouts and once through planning and post-acquisition to include the attendance and contribution at ongoing design meetings. The role will include the development of amenity spaces, bedroom and kitchen/dining areas for clients The design role therefore is pivotal to supporting business development, project management and operational sectors of the business and help grow the ongoing reputation for attracting professionals to the accommodation that VervLife manage. Deadlines for bids and design work are sometimes grouped so the candidate needs to be able to work under pressure at times. The candidate must have relevant knowledge and experience of designing interiors within the Co-living, BTR and SFR market sectors. They must be able to offer developers and architects advice of building layout, amenity provision, building room type mix, interior design intent, as well as a good knowledge of how a building can be effectively designed from an operational perspective. Knowledge of building regulations, M&E systems and fire regulations is preferred but not essential as further training and guidance can be given in these areas. The candidate will work closely with the Directors of the business to convert enquiries and take ownership of the end-to-end design input, ensuring all contact and communication with existing clients and potential clients is carefully managed and co-ordinated and that information is presented promptly, presentable and accurate. The candidate must be confident and have robust project management skills to co-ordinate works needed from internal and external suppliers to ensure the documents produced are of high quality and that they are fully conversant with using AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite and SketchUp. Additional knowledge of Enscape Rendering is desirable but not essential. The candidate must be able to work under pressure and often flexibly to meet tight deadlines to maintain the proactive approach which has been fundamental to success to date. This design position is a hybrid working role, with the candidate being willing to travel to our Head Office in Harrogate on a weekly / fortnightly basis to co-ordinate with the wider Interior Design team as well as regular visits to our London sites. Flexibility to work from home as and when is appropriate. An ability to travel to sites around the UK / Europe as and when is required to meet clients, site surveys and design meetings is essential. Key Responsibilities This role requires the candidate to work with multiple aspects of the business. Business Development Team - Working to improve designs and layouts for future projects. Improving the use of available space to attract new residents to the scheme in terms of bedroom design and the layout of amenity facilities and overall environment and service offering. Projects Team - Working on how to enhance existing building amenities and bedroom spaces to uphold and improve the property’s rental income. This requires candidate to sell the project with strong presentation skills in both 2D/3D. National Asset Manager - Reviewing existing architectural plans and how we can improve schemes to be more appealing to the rental market and more efficient from an operational perspective. Offering 2D layout support to architects. Additional Responsibilities All aspects of the business require the candidate to be confident in both client facing meetings and ongoing communications. The candidate should be highly proficient in AutoCAD, Abobe Creative Suite, SketchUp, Enscape(desirable) and all Microsoft packages. Candidates will also be expected to contribute to all other aspects of the Business development team from competitor analysis, site surveys and producing room schedules to generate NOI models for our existing and potential clients. Personal Skills & Experience A relevant degree to the industry - Interior Design / Interior Architecture / Design Manager / Operational Minimum 6 years relevant industry experience in design and/or operation of projects within this sector Fluency in AutoCAD and presentation software is preferred but not essential. Excellent project management skills. A proactive and self-starter attitude. Good planning and time management with an ability to work on multiple tasks and reprioritise as demands change daily.
