Junior Sister/Charge Nurse - BMTU/Ward 79

Job overview
The post holder will assess, plan, implement and evaluate the care for patients supporting and guiding junior staff in the process. S/he will provide direct patient care and have detailed clinical knowledge of the specialist area. The post holder will assist the senior Sister/Charge Nurses in ensuring that high standards of quality of care are delivered & maintained. The post holder will act as a positive role model within the department for staff, patients, and carers. The post holder will deputise for the senior sister as required.
Main duties of the job
1. To support the ward manager in implementing education, training and development strategies throughout the area for all staff groups.
2. The role contributes to the improvement of standards to care through the development of the newly qualified workforce.
3. To work clinically between BMTU and ward 79, support bed management and patient flow.
4. Participate in audit and research, teaching and supporting colleagues throughout changes in practice.
5. In conjunction with the Ward Manager, ensure that the workforce is fit for purpose in terms of their roles and that individual competencies are reviewed to provide a safe, high quality and efficient service.
6. Delivery of and supporting staff in Appraisals, revalidation, mandatory training, preceptorship and continuing professional development.
7. Contribute to the Trust education and development strategies, leading projects as designated by the Ward manager/ Modern Matron.

* Post basic evidence of study
