JOB DESCRIPTION Role Primary Care Clinical Coder and Administrator Band AFC 3/4 Working Pattern Permanent 35 to 37.5 hours p/w (negotiable with job share considered) Team Operations Reporting to Operations Manager Location Coventry Job Purpose Broomfield Park Medical Centre has an exciting opportunity for an experienced medical coder to manage all aspects of Docman administration within the practice. The main responsibility of the Summariser/Coder is to administrate and filter the paperwork workflow that comes into the practice. As Summariser/Coder you will be a vital member of the Operational Team. We receive large volumes of clinical information on a daily basis regarding patients and other matters. This filters in from a variety of sources and it all needs organising, coding, actioning and sharing with relevant people in the practice using Docman 10. The role consists of managing these documents, coding and updating patients' medical record within EMIS web. The post holder will provide a full range of administrative support to the Practice. Undertaking a variety of tasks to assist in the day to day running of our practice. You will need a flexible approach with attention to detail and the ability to work as part of a busy team. About us Broomfield Park Medical Centre is a Practice with a list size of around 20,000 patients, along with our partner practice based at Warwick University. We have 4 GP Partners, 6 salaried GPs, 2 Nurses, 1 HCA, 2 ANPs who are support by 3 Managers, Practice Secretaries, Operational Team and a Reception Team. Main Duties and Responsibilities Process all correspondence received in all electronic and paper formats in an accurate and efficient manner. Manage the reception practice mailbox and ensuring all emails are actioned. Review medical records and documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness for coding purposes Assign appropriate diagnostic codes accurately to patient records using SNOMED CT coding systems. Undertake clinical documentation reading and assist with digital workflow optimisation Follow coding guidelines and regulations to ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards. Ensuring incoming letters are viewable on the patient record within a 48/72-hour timescale. Flagging safeguarding concerns and liaising with safeguarding team. Any other tasks assigned by the Operations Manager. Person Specification Essential: Experience working with GP Clinical Systems for example: Proficiency in Emis Web Snomed CT coding Systems Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology `. Educated to at least a GCSE level including Maths and English (or equivalent). Experience working within a GP practice environment, ideally in a similar role. At least 3 to 5 years working within a Docman related role with technical use. Ability to prioritise and time management own workload. Good IT skills Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in coding assignments Ability to be flexible and adjust to changing service requirements. Desirable: Knowledge of role of other healthcare professionals. Good numerical skills. Willingness to travel to our partner surgeries within Coventry as and when needed.
