We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Financial Controller to join SAH Diagnostics on a part-time basis (2-3 days per week). Reporting directly to the CEO and COO, this is a critical role responsible for overseeing our financial operations, supporting strategic planning, and ensuring strong governance, compliance, and financial performance. You’ll be a key partner in our growth journey—bringing both operational finance expertise and commercial acumen to a mission-driven healthcare business.

Role Overview
Reporting directly to the CEO and COO, the Part-Time Financial Controller will play a pivotal role in managing the company’s financial operations, planning, and reporting. You will provide strategic financial leadership and ensure robust financial systems, compliance, and controls are in place to support our growth journey. This is a hands-on and autonomous role suited to a self-starter with experience in healthcare or NHS service delivery environments.
Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
* Oversee all aspects of financial management including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and planning.
* Produce accurate and timely monthly management accounts with detailed variance analysis.
* Prepare and present financial reports, KPIs, and dashboards to the CEO, COO, and Board.
* Lead the preparation of year-end accounts and liaise with auditors and external accountants.
Strategic & Commercial Support
* Provide financial insight and modelling to support decision-making, NHS tendering, pricing strategies, and contract negotiations.
* Contribute to long-term strategic planning and scenario analysis, aligned with growth objectives.
* Work closely with operational teams to assess project profitability and cost efficiencies.
Governance, Risk & Compliance
* Ensure full compliance with statutory reporting requirements, NHS financial frameworks, VAT, and payroll obligations.
* Maintain strong internal controls and lead financial risk management processes.
* Lead on process and systems improvements across all areas of finance.
Operational & Team Oversight
* Oversee day-to-day financial operations including invoicing, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and reconciliations.
Qualifications
* Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
Essential Experience
* 5+ years’ experience in a senior finance role (ideally within a growing SME or healthcare environment).
* Strong financial management and reporting background, including preparation of management accounts and board reporting.
* Commercially focused with experience in pricing, cost modelling, and contract analysis.
* Experience working with NHS clients or understanding of NHS procurement processes.
* Proficient in Excel and accounting software such as Xero, Sage, or QuickBooks.
Desirable
* Previous experience in NHS insourcing, diagnostics, or staffing models.
* Experience working in a part-time Financial Controller or Finance Director capacity.
* Familiarity with preparing financials for NHS tenders or public sector bids.
* Experience leading finance transformation projects or system implementations.
