To join a very exciting Learning Disability (LD) Psychology department reporting to the Lead Psychologist and assisting the supervision of LD Behavioural specialists, LD Assistant Psychologists, and Trainee Psychologists.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to our MDT for people with a learning disability. In this role, you will be working at the Civic Centre in the London Borough of Sutton with a team that works across different sites in Sutton and consists of Learning Disability Nurses, LD Physios, Occupational Therapists, Dieticians, Speech and Language Therapists, and Creative Arts Therapists (Music and Drama/Movement).
Main duties of the job
Reporting to the Clinical Health Team Manager, you will be providing clinical services to adults with a learning disability who require highly specialist psychological input. Our objective is to deliver the best outcomes for the health of adults with a learning disability. You will deliver specialist psychological assessment, formulation, and treatment to our service users, for both individuals and groups, whilst supporting the Assistant Psychologist in providing specialist clinical supervision, psychological advice, and training as required.
Our Ideal Candidate
As a qualified and registered Clinical Psychologist, we expect you to demonstrate the following competencies:
* Qualified Clinical Psychologist with 3-4 years post-PHD experience, including work with Adults with a Learning Disability.
* HCPC registered.
* Experience in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Positive Behavioral Support (PBS), LD assessment, and Dementia assessment.
* Extensive, highly specialised knowledge and expertise in working with adults with learning disabilities.
* High level of ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally, complex, highly technical, and clinically sensitive information.
* Highly developed knowledge of theory and practice of highly specialised psychological therapies to deliver the specific level of care for adults with learning disabilities.

Job responsibilities
The Clinical Health Team is a specialist health service for adults with learning disabilities whose health needs cannot be met by mainstream health services. We employ a range of health professionals to meet those needs. The team provides services to adults with learning disabilities registered with a Sutton GP.
Team Functions:
* The delivery of health inputs provided by trained clinicians specialised in the field of learning disabilities where needs cannot be met by mainstream services alone.
* Promoting well-being through activities such as health promotion and preventative lifestyle activity.
* Facilitating access to mainstream services and supports such as primary care, acute care, and leisure opportunities.
* Contributing to service developments and using knowledge about needs, effectiveness of current services, and future demand to inform and contribute towards strategic commissioning.
* Imparting skills by teaching and training others such as social care providers, voluntary sector staff, and other health professionals.
The post holder will be working within a well-established Specialist Psychology service comprising Counselling, Clinical, and Assistant Psychologists. The post holder will be expected to provide a qualified, high-quality specialist LD Psychology service to individuals, carers, families, and groups within the London Borough of Sutton, in line with best, evidence-based practice and service care pathways.
The post holder will be responsible for holding and managing a clinical caseload of clients referred to the service and utilising planning and organisational skills to carry out assessments, treatment, and discharge of clients within the parameters of the service operational policy. When appropriate, the post holder will be responsible for managing Assistant Psychologists and allocated Trainee Psychologists working in the Clinical Health Team for People with Learning Disabilities.
Deliver complex service activities and manage caseloads to ensure intended outcomes for customers and the CCG/Council are delivered within agreed service standards.
Liaise with customers to review service requirements and resolve problems.
Lead on the development of specific policies and procedures to contribute to the continuous improvement in the work area.
Where relevant, coordinate the work of a team, either formally or as part of a project, to ensure individual and team objectives are delivered.
Keep up to date with changes in relevant policy and legislation to ensure delivery in the work area is effective and complies with appropriate regulations/statutory guidance.
