Research Associate in Electronics Packaging Materials (Fixed Term)
A position exists for a Research Associate in the Department of Engineering, to work on power electronics packaging.
The post holder will be located in West Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, UK.
This role will conduct research on new power electronics packaging materials to enable separable parts of the device/module package. The position holder needs to investigate new bonding materials and new packaging structures. We aim to achieve a new type of power electronics packaging method after this research, which enables parts of the package to be repairable, replaceable, and recyclable.
Qualifications and Experience
* Expertise and knowledge in Power electronics packaging, including materials, structure, and design.
* Materials characterisation and analysis.
* Power electronics reliability analysis.
* Basic design specification of power electronic circuit and applications.
* Thermomechanical modelling.
* Power electronic package prototyping.
* Power cycling testing including rig development and operation.
* Data analysis and programming skills.
Technical Skills
* Experience in power electronic package design and testing.
* Power cycling development and operation.
* Reliability analysis.
* Diagnostic methods such as microscopy and analysis.
* Proficient in using ANSYS (Icepack, MAXWELL, HFSS), COMSOL, MATLAB, CADs, Altium Designer.
Education
Applicants must have a PhD in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering with focus on power electronics packaging and should have at least two accepted/published journal papers.
Salary
Salary Ranges: Research Associate: £36,924 - £45,163
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 9 months in the first instance.
