Job Title: Medical Secretary
Location: Colchester Hospital, CO4 5JL
Hours: 37.5

What you’ll be responsible for:
1. To provide full and efficient secretarial and administrative support to Obstetrics and Gynaecology Consultants and their teams and other staff within the women’s and children’s division.
2. Audio typing of outpatient clinic letters using the digital dictation system and reports using Microsoft Word within an agreed timescale.
3. Opening and processing incoming mail, ensuring that all results are passed to the consultant or nurse specialist with the date of the next clinic appointment or a copy of the last clinic letter as appropriate.
4. Liaise with booking clerks to ensure that patients are added to the waiting list within the agreed standard and undertake administration of patients on the waiting list as and when required.
5. Dealing with incoming telephone calls from patients/relatives/GP Surgeries and other departments within the hospital.
You’ll learn the following whilst working at the trust:

2. Knowledge of the systems used, to effectively complete your role to the highest standard at all times.
3. A sense of teamwork, gained through working alongside and supporting colleagues from all levels within the organisation.
