About the Role:
* Provide strong and visible leadership for Geography across Key Stage 3 (Years 7-8) and potentially Key Stage 4 (Years 9-11), setting the strategic direction and ensuring a positive and productive learning environment for both staff and students.
* Lead the development and implementation of a stimulating and challenging Geography curriculum that aligns with the National Curriculum and the school's vision.
* Motivate and inspire a team of talented Geography teachers, fostering a culture of collaboration and professional growth.
* Play a key role in the recruitment, development, and performance management of the Geography department staff.
* Oversee the effective use of resources and facilities to enhance the Geography learning experience.
* Develop and maintain strong relationships with feeder primary schools and external partners.
* Contribute to the wider leadership team of the school, supporting the overall vision and educational goals.
* Foster a love of Geography and encourage students to develop critical thinking, research, and problem-solving skills.
The Ideal Candidate:
* A qualified Geography Teacher with a minimum of 5 years' successful teaching experience, including experience at Key Stage 3 and demonstrably strong leadership potential.
* A proven track record of raising standards and improving student outcomes in Geography.
* Excellent subject knowledge and a passion for innovative teaching methods that bring Geography to life.
* Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to motivate and inspire colleagues.
* Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.
* The ability to build strong relationships with students, parents, staff, and external partners.
